She is the only child of her parents. She was not formally trained in music; yet she went on to become a successful singing actress. She attended New Girls' school also known as J.B. Petit High School for Girls, in Fort, Bombay (Mumbai). She received religious teachings in Persian at home.

The actress made her debut as a child artist in Usne Kya Socha (1937). She got a fabulous role as a child artist with the help of her close uncle Zahoor, who was then a popular villain actor. Once, she went with him to Mohan Studios to see the shooting of the film Taj Mahal which was being directed by Nanubhai Vakil. Vakil noticed Suraiya and not having in his mind at that time any particular young girl to play the role of young Mumtaj Mahal in Taj Mahal so, he selected Suraiya for that role.

Music director Naushad once heard Suraiya's voice on All India Radio where she sang for a children's program, and chose her to sing as a 13 year old for Mehtaab in Kardar's film Sharda (1942).

In her adult she initially played secondary roles in K. Asif's Phool (1944), Anmol Ghadi (1946) and Dard (1947). She got a break as a heroine for the film Tadbir in 1945 at the recommendation of K. Asif's Phool, who liked her voice during a rehearsal. She went on to costar with Saigal in Omar Khayyam and Parwana.

Suraiya was romantically involved with actor Dev Anand. The two of them costarred in six films between 1948 and 1951. During the shooting of a film, a boat capsized and Dev Anand saved Suraiya from drowning. She fell in love with him, but her grandmother opposed the relationship. Amjad Khan was born on 12 November 1940. He was an acclaimed Indian star and filmmaker. The superstar has worked in over 130 movies in his career spanning nearly twenty years. He enjoyed popularity for his villain roles in Hindi flicks. Before Amjad came to films he was a theatre actor. His first film was as a child artist at the age of 17 in the film Ab Dilli Dur Nahin (1957).

Amjad Khan had assisted K. Asif in the film Love And God in the late 1960’s and had also made a short appearance in the film which would have been his official film debut. Amjad Khan along with another veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra Deol and Sanjeev Kumar at the sets of Sholay in 1975. He was offered the character of a dacoit Gabbar Singh for the film Sholay for which he is remembered till date. After the success of Sholay, Amjad Khan continued to play villain roles in many Bollywood films in the 1970’s, 1980’s and early 1990’s.

He also did directing for a short period in the 1980’s directing and also starring in Chor Police (1983) ,which was a success and Ameer Aadmi Gareeb Aadmi (1985) which failed to do work at the box office. In 1986, the actor had met with a near fatal accident on the Bombay-Goa road, when he drove his car into a tree while trying to avoid a boulder. As a result of his increasing weight he died in 1992 after suffering from a heart failure at the age of 51.

Shammi Kapoor was a prominent lead actor in Indian cinema during the late 1950s and 1960s. The actor has also received the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1968 for his performance in Brahmachari and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Vidhaata in 1982. In 1974, Shammi donned the hat of a director and made Manoranjan, a movie which was based on Irma La Douce.

Two years later, he made Bandalbaaz in 1976. However, both the films failed at the box office. The actor was last seen in the much delayed 2006 movie, Sandwich. KL Saigal

Kundan Lal Saigal was born on 11 April 1904. He was an Indian playback singer and actor too who is still considered the first superstar of the Hindi film fraternity, which was centered in Calcutta during K.L. Saigal’s time, but is currently centered in Mumbai.

As a child K.L. Saigal occasionally played Sita in the Ramleela of Jammu. He dropped out of school and started earning money by working as a railway timekeeper. Later, K.L. Saigal worked as a typewriter salesman for the Remington Typewriter Company, which allowed him to tour several parts of India. Meanwhile, Indian Gramophone Company had released K.L. Saigal’s record consisting of couple of Punjabi songs composed by Harishchandra Bali. The first Bollywood flick in which Kundan Lal Saigal had a character to enact was the Urdu movie titled “Mohabbat Ke Ansoo”, followed by “Subah Ka Sitara” and “Zinda Laash”, all of these movies were released in the year 1932.

However, these films did not do very well at the box office. It was in 1933 that K.L. Saigal’s four bhajans for the film “Puran Bhagat” created a sensation throughout the nation. Other films that followed were Yahudi Ki Ladki, Chandidas and Rooplekha. In 1935, K.L. Saigal played the character of the drunken man in Devdas, based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel of the same name and directed by P.C. Barua. His songs in the film, Balam Aaye Baso Moray Man Mein and Dukh Ke Ab Din Beetat Naahi, became popular in the whole country. In December 1941, he moved to the city of dreams Mumbai to work with Ranjit Movietone.

There K.L.Saigal acted and sang in a number of successful films. ‘Bhakt Surdas’ and ‘Tansen’ were hits during this period. But slowly it was witnessed that alcohol made it’s close place in Saigal’s life and it is also said that this had begun affecting his work and his health. As a dredaful result, K.L. Saigal died in his ancestral city of Jalandhar on 18 January 1947, at the age of 42. However, K.L. Saigal acted in 36 feature films 28 in Hindi, Urdu, 7 in Bengali, and 1 in Tamil.

Laxmikant Berde(3 November 1954 – 16 December 2004) was a popular comic actor of the Indian Film Industry. The talented comic actor made a special place in the hearts of people. He was well known for his humour. Laxmikant Berde performed very well in Hindi as well as Marathi movies.

Acting was his first love. Today he is no more between us but he has a huge fan following. He is an inspiration for the young brigade of comic actors. Laxmikant Berde was interested in acting from his early years, he wanted to make his career in the field of acting only. He took active active participation in stage drama during the cultural activities for Ganesh festival celebrations. These celebrations were performed at Konkanast Vaishya Samaj. The talented comic actor won various awards for participation in inter school and inter college drama competitions. He kept on polishing his acting skills by taking active participation in various dramas and cultural activities in his school, college and society. He began his acting career with Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh. His first major hit play was staged in the year 1983 it's name was Purushottam Berde's Tour. He made his acting debut with a Marathi movie 'Lek Chalali Sasarla'.

His performance was appreciated by critics as well as the audience. After that he got so many offers to act in various Marathi movies. Laxmikant Berde appeared in popular Marathi films like Hamal De Dhamal, Dhum Dhadaka, Balache Baap Brahmachari, Ashi Hi Banwa Banvi and Thartharat. He made his Hindi movie debut with Sooraj R Barjatya's blockbuster hit 'Maine Pyaar Kiya' wherein famous Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Bhagyashree appeared in the lead roles. After that he appeared in the comic role in the movie 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' wherein Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit played the lead roles. Laxmikant Berde made wonderful performances in the movies like 'Beta' and Sajan'. The talented comic actor died in Mumbai on 16 December 2004 due to a kidney ailment.
